Antiferromagnetic Ising model in small-world networks.
نویسنده
چکیده
The antiferromagnetic Ising model in small-world networks generated from two-dimensional regular lattices has been studied. The disorder introduced by long-range connections causes frustration, which gives rise to a spin-glass phase at low temperature. Monte Carlo simulations have been carried out to study the paramagnetic to spin-glass transition, as a function of the rewiring probability p , which measures the disorder strength. The transition temperature Tc goes down for increasing disorder, and saturates to a value Tc approximately 1.7 J for p>0.4 , J being the antiferromagnetic coupling. For small p and at low temperature, the energy increases linearly with p . In the strong-disorder limit p-->1 , this model is equivalent to a short-range +/-J spin glass in random networks.

The Ising model is one of the simplest models describing the interacting particles. In this work, we calculate the high temperature series expansions of zero field susceptibility of ising model with ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic and one antiferromagnetic interactions on two dimensional kagome lattice. Using the Pade´ approximation, we calculate the susceptibility of critical exponent of fer...
متن کاملTopological bifurcations in a model society of reasonable contrarians
People are often divided into conformists and contrarians, the former tending to align to the majority opinion in their neighborhood and the latter tending to disagree with that majority. In practice, however, the contrarian tendency is rarely followed when there is an overwhelming majority with a given opinion, which denotes a social norm. Such reasonable contrarian behavior is often considere...
متن کاملDamage spreading in small world Ising models.
We study damage spreading in the ferromagnetic Ising model on small world networks using Monte Carlo simulation with Glauber dynamics. The damage spreading temperature T(d) is determined as a function of rewiring probability p for small world networks obtained by rewiring the two-dimensional square and three dimensional cubic lattices. We find that the damage for different values of p collapse ...
متن کاملCorrelation effects in a simple small-world network
We analyze correlation effects in a simple model of small world networks, first introduced in [1], which is a ring of N sites connected randomly to a distinguished site at the center. Any two sites connected in this way are interpreted to be connected by a shortcut. We enter correlations into this model by taking these random connections from an Ising distribution on the ring. We will show that...
متن کاملOn The Possibility of Quasi Small-World Nanomaterials
The possibility of materials that are governed by a fixed point related to small world networks is discussed. In particular, large-scale Monte Carlo simulations are performed on Ising ferromagnetic models on two different small-world networks generated from a one-dimensional spin chain. One has the small-world bond strengths independent of the length, and exhibits a finite-temperature phase tra...
